2020 CARNA Award nominees and recipients announced

UÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ Nursing community members recognized by the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta

The nominees and recipients were recently announced with many UÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ Nursing connections among them.

Professor Emerita Dr. Lorraine Wright, PhD will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Wright joined UÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ Nursing in the early 1980s to help establish the MN program and then founded the Family Nursing Unit (FNU) in 1982 where she remained director until 2002. She used her considerable skills in family therapy to spearhead this research and education department that provided assistance to families suffering with serious illness. She also taught and supervised Masters/Doctoral students who were specializing in Family Systems Nursing. 

She retired in 2002 after 27 years at the ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ and since then has lectured and conducted workshops in many countries around families and illness beliefs, suffering, spirituality and illness.

The ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ Urban Projects Society (CUPS) executive director, Carlene Donnelly, will receive the Partner in Health AwardCarlene has been with CUPS for almost 20 years and has extensive knowledge in non-profit leadership and poverty alleviation. She has been a valued member of the UÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ Nursing Community Advisory Board since 2016.
