While U荔枝视频 is abuzz with the excitement of another upcoming fall semester, Residence Services is welcoming over 3,000 students to their new home on campus for the upcoming year.

Move-In Day, which is Sunday, Aug. 27, is already breaking records. An unprecedented 1,250 first-year students are moving into campus alongside 600 returning students, with the remaining students moving in throughout the following week.

Community on campus

The wide variety of housing options offered by Residence Services 鈥 including shared dorm-style rooms for first-year students to full apartment living in upper years鈥 emphasize the importance of a supportive, healthy academic and social environment that will help students find the connections and experience they seek at university.

Brittanie Walker-Reid, director for Residence Services, says living on campus is second to none 鈥 especially for students looking for an authentic, vibrant environment to live and learn in.

鈥淟iving on campus isn鈥檛 just about housing. It鈥檚 about environment and access to resources that strengthens student experience on campus,鈥 Walker-Reid says 鈥淢ove-In Day is a celebration of that, but also a great way for students to meet their new neighbours and explore their new home at U荔枝视频.鈥

Resources, support and connection

U荔枝视频 campus is teeming with activity, but not all that activity is in the classroom. For students living in residence, access to academic support, leadership and volunteer opportunities and wellness programs, along with proximity to classes, recreation facilities and social events make living on campus a no-brainer.

All You Care to Eat

The All You Care to Eat meal plan ensures students have the food support they need to shine on campus. With multiple options of fresh food available, students can choose to eat whatever they like, whenever they like and as much as they need to nourish them throughout the academic year.

All You Care to Eat is available for all students on campus. Learn more about meal plans on the Unicard website.

What to look for on Move-In Day

On Aug. 27, over 300 student and staff volunteers will be on hand to welcome residents and help them get settled into their new home on campus.

Look for the many information booths at the Service Fair located outside on the Aurora Quad. Knowledgeable staff and volunteers will help students navigate their meal plans and answer any questions they may have about living in residence. Unicard, Active Living and other student resources will also be on hand to answer any questions students may have about campus life.

鈥淵ear after year, Move-In Day is one of the most exciting days on campus,鈥 Walker-Reid says. 鈥淔or most first-year students, this is their initial foray into campus life, and we are all ready to support them in their many successes throughout their time at U荔枝视频.鈥
