It was a party 60 years in the making.

The 荔枝视频 community 鈥  including students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors and community members 鈥 came together April 11 to celebrate the institution鈥檚 60th anniversary.

It was a full day of activities, entertainment, food, campus tours and fun for the whole family, highlighted by two signature events: Rex鈥檚 Jurassic Jamboree and Start Something, EH!

The jamboree was an attempt to break an existing Guiness World Record of prehistoric proportions, as supporters dressed as dinosaurs to dance and roar their way to successfully setting a new record for the largest gathering of people dressed as dinosaurs.

Attendees also had the chance to hear from a variety of special guests, including President Ed McCauley and Chancellor Jon Cornish, as well as Olympic medallists Catriona Le May Doan, Mark Tewksbury, Dr. Cari Dine, Brendan MacKay, Carol Huynh and Dr. Hayley Wickenheiser.

To commemorate U荔枝视频鈥檚 60th anniversary, poet Miranda Krogstad penned an ode to the institution and performed it at Community Day. You can .

How U荔枝视频 beat a DINO-sized record is explained below, following the photo gallery.

To ensure its 60th anniversary was one for the record books, U荔枝视频 set out to break the world record for the largest number of people dressed as dinosaurs in one place at one time.

That record was previously held by the Cox Science Center and Aquarium in West Palm Beach, Fla., .

That record, which was previously set last summer and saw 468 people take part, was shattered by the 682 people who descended on main campus for Community Day donning their dinosaur best.

"People showed up in some fabulous onesies, to blow-up dinos where you could not see any part of the person inside except for their feet,鈥 .

"As soon as we heard Guinness say, 'Six,' we knew we broke the record, and no one listened to anything after that. We were all screaming and hugging each other. It was awesome.鈥
