Danielle was an engineering consultant in the mining and oil and gas industry
鈥淚t was a mix of different problems and cool experiences. But I really wanted to focus on something more meaningful.鈥 So she went back to school.
An avid athlete, Danielle decided to combine her engineering background with her curiosity of what keeps bones and joints healthy. As a PhD student in Steven Boyd鈥檚 lab, she studies how bone microarchitecture can predict who is likely to get a hip fracture.
Danielle is also interested in the business side of biomedical engineering. 鈥淢y initial plan was to get my master鈥檚 degree and run a great start-up in 荔枝视频. But I鈥檝e found that I have a passion for research,鈥 she says. 鈥淚 could see myself being in academia and really driving innovation from the inside out.鈥
