鈥淚t was a mix of different problems and cool experiences. But I really wanted to focus on something more meaningful.鈥� So she went back to school.

An avid athlete, Danielle decided to combine her engineering background with her curiosity of what keeps bones and joints healthy. As a PhD student in Steven Boyd鈥檚 lab, she studies how bone microarchitecture can predict who is likely to get a hip fracture.

Danielle is also interested in the business side of biomedical engineering.  鈥淢y initial plan was to get my master鈥檚 degree and run a great start-up in 荔枝视频. But I鈥檝e found that I have a passion for research,鈥� she says. 鈥淚 could see myself being in academia and really driving innovation from the inside out.鈥�
