Leadership update: Innovate ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ

I am pleased to share that will take on the role of interim president and CEO of , while continuing as associate vice-president (Strategy, Enterprise and Commercial) at the ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ. Shawn will assume the interim role following the retirement of , PhD, who will conclude his tenure as president and CEO of Innovate ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ at the end of May. We thank John for his leadership and many contributions to Innovate ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ and wish him all the best ahead.

Having Shawn serve in both roles will provide strong continuity, maintaining momentum across Innovate ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµâ€™s work while keeping it closely connected to the university’s innovation and entrepreneurship priorities.

Innovate ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ plays a vital role as the university’s innovation company, helping move ideas from discovery into real-world use and supporting researchers, students, and startups as they bring those ideas to life. The work of Innovate ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ closely aligns with Shawn’s current portfolio, which focuses on strengthening partnerships, identifying new opportunities, stewarding resources strategically, and supporting initiatives that create value for the university and the broader community.

In his role as interim president and CEO of Innovate ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ, Shawn will focus on supporting the team and strengthening trusted relationships with partners. His leadership will continue to support collaborations between Innovate ÀóÖ¦ÊÓÆµ and the university, helping to translate research into impact.
