Kirsty Duncan, minister of science,  in Regina last month more than $158 million in funding for over 800 social sciences and humanities research projects across Canada.

More than $2.1 million will support a number of projects at the 荔枝视频 in the faculties of arts, kinesiology, social work, environmental design, law, Werklund School of Education, Haskayne School of Business, and School of Public Policy.

The minister made the announcement while attending the annual Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences: 鈥淭hanks to the work of the hundreds of researchers being recognized today, Canadians can gain a better understanding of the world we live in,鈥 she said. 鈥淚t is my honour to support these talented researchers and help them push the boundaries of knowledge that will mean a better environment, better health, better society, and a better economy for all Canadians.鈥

The funding is being awarded from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC).

鈥淥ur researchers are addressing issues such as youth cyber-risk, social support for physical literacy in older adults, and scaling up community food initiatives in our city,鈥 says Dr. Ed McCauley, PhD, vice-president (research) at the 荔枝视频. 鈥淭he support from SSHRC makes it possible for our scholars to have a meaningful impact in our communities.鈥
