U荔枝视频 to roll out stand-alone policy addressing cannabis on campus
In anticipation of the legalization of cannabis, the 荔枝视频 has drafted a Cannabis Policy to establish rules relating to cannabis on campus and to promote harm reduction programs for university members who may use cannabis. The draft policy is currently in consultation, with approval expected ahead of the legalization of cannabis this summer.
The Cannabis Policy will comply with federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations regarding the possession and use of cannabis, including the City of 荔枝视频 bylaw which prohibits smoking and vaping of cannabis in public.
Linda Dalgetty, vice-president finance and services, says the policy is meant to reduce any confusion about what will be permissible at U荔枝视频 when the Canadian cannabis laws change.
鈥淚t was developed through extensive stakeholder consultation, and it will provide clarity about what legalization will look like on campus,鈥 says Dalgetty. 鈥淥nce the policy is approved, we will share it with our community and the public.鈥
The Cannabis Policy will be implemented when cannabis becomes legal under federal law.
