The university acknowledges and respects the rich diversity of our learners, their communities, their aspirations, and their cultures and traditions. With this in mind, the university provides scholarships, awards and bursaries to Canadian Indigenous students.

Indigenous award document requirements

The 荔枝视频 recognizes the following documentation for verifying Indigenous status:

  • Status card issued by ). Older status cards may still be used, but if Renew Before date has passed, individuals are encouraged to order a new card.
  • Letter from a government-registered First Nations community verifying the individual isa member of that First Nation. 
  • Non-status individuals who are not entitled to registration under the Indian Act due to the limits imposed by section 6.2 of that Act (the 鈥渟econd generation cut off鈥) may present supporting documentation (including long form birth certificates) that reflect a connection to:   
  1. An ancestor (parent, grandparent or great grandparent) who had a status card
  2. An ancestor (parent, grandparent or great grandparent) whose name appears in the Indian Register according to the ; or
  3. An ancestor (parent, grandparent or great grandparent) named in a letter from a government-registered First Nation confirming the ancestor鈥檚 name is on a First Nation band membership list.
  • Documentation will be reviewed by the 荔枝视频 Committee on Indigenous Citizenship and Membership
  • Letter from a government-registered First Nations community verifying the individual is a member of that First Nation. 
  • A 惭茅迟颈蝉 card issued by one of the following federally recognized 惭茅迟颈蝉 governments that is current, valid or both:
    • 惭茅迟颈蝉 Nation British Columbia
    • Otipemisiwak 惭茅迟颈蝉 Government,(formerly 惭茅迟颈蝉 Nation of Alberta)
    • 惭茅迟颈蝉 Nation Saskatchewan
    • Manitoba 惭茅迟颈蝉 Federation
    • 惭茅迟颈蝉 Nation of Ontario
    • The Northwest Territory 惭茅迟颈蝉 Nation
  • A Membership card or letter from one of the member Nations of the 惭茅迟颈蝉 Settlements General Council, including Buffalo Lake, East Prairie, Elizabeth Lake, Fishing Lake, Gift Lake, Kikino, Paddle Prairie, and Peavine that is current, valid or both. 
  • A Inuit enrolment card or letter that is current, valid or both from:
    • The Inuvialuit Regional Corporation (Inuvialuit Final Agreement)
    • Nunavut Tunngavik Incorporated (Nunavut Agreement)
    • Makivik Corporation (James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement, Nunavik Inuit Land Claims Agreement)
    • The Nunatsiavut Government (Labrador Inuit Land Claims Agreement)
  • A Inuit enrolment card that is current, valid or both that is issued through Nunavut Trust
