Swap or drop courses

Easily update your schedule by swapping or dropping courses in your Student Centre.

How to swap a course

Complete this action to swap course before add/swap deadline

You can swap courses until the in the University Calendar. After that term deadline, you can only withdraw from a course. If you withdraw from a course it will appear as a "W" (withdrawal) on your transcript, but it won't impact your GPA.

It is important to always use the swap function in your to trade or substitute one course for another. After the drop deadline has passed, trying to swap a course by dropping one course and then adding another one will result in a 鈥淲鈥 for the dropped course. 

We don鈥檛 recommend swapping into a waitlisted course. 

Follow these steps to swap a course using Student Centre:

Log in

Log in to your .

Select term

On the Home page, scroll to the middle of the screen to select the correct term, and click the Swap button.

Choose class to swap out

From the Swap this class drop-down menu, select the course you want to swap out of. Then click the Search button.

Search for a new class

In the Subject drop-down menu, find the course you want to swap into. Then click the Search button.

Select a class

Choose the class you wish to enrol into and click Select.

Review selection

Review your choice and click Next.

Finish swapping

Double-check that you鈥檙e swapping the correct courses. Then click the Finish swapping button.

Confirm swap

Review your results to ensure you鈥檝e successfully swapped your course.

How to drop a course

Complete this action to drop a course before the drop deadline has passed

Use the Drop function in to remove yourself from a course. Dropping a course before or after the has different consequences:

  • Before the term drop deadline: The course won鈥檛 be on your academic record, and you won鈥檛 owe fees for it.
  • After the term drop deadline: The course will appear as a "W" (withdrawal) on your transcript, and you won鈥檛 get a fee refund. 

Follow these steps to drop a course using Student Centre:

Log in

Log in to your .

Select term and click drop

On the Home page, scroll to the middle of the screen to select the correct term, and click the Drop button.

Select class to drop

Choose the course you want to drop/withdraw from, and click the Drop selected class button.

Finish dropping

Double-check that you鈥檙e dropping the correct courses. Then click the Finish dropping button. 

Confirm drop

Review your results to ensure you鈥檝e successfully dropped/withdrawn from your course.
